Day 10: Social GatheringTop Left: Styled Avenue; Top Right: 36th Avenue; Bottom Left: Oh Mai Darling (slightly edited); Bottom Right: Work Outfits

Obviously a party is a social gathering. But for this post, I mean the get togethers with friends, family and or any non-work party, really. I love the idea of sequins and glitter for winter holidays, as you can see. They’re just so festive. However, I’ve included less or non-sequin/glitter options for those who aren’t too keen on it. Outfits 2 (top right) and 3 (bottom left) are my favorites.

Looking for some of these items? I’ve done a bit of the heavy lifting for you. Check out the pieces below.

Day 10: Figure 2
Left to right: 1 – Sequin Dress, H&M, $34.99; 2 – Beaded Mesh Top, Forever 21, $32.90; 3 – Missguided Premium Lace Long Sleeve Skater Dress*, ASOS, $57.00; 4 – The Wendy 25″ Tulle Skirt (red), Space 46 Boutique, $82.00

* If they don’t have your size in the red dress, try this one.

25 Days of Christmas: Holiday Cards

Don’t judge my graphics! Be nice, goodwill to all (wo)men and all that. Clearly, design of any sort is not my strength, but I went for it anyway.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I don’t really receive Christmas cards. I’ve had a few random ones here and there, but the last time I got a bunch was back in my school days when you brought them in for the whole class and attached those tasty mini candy canes to them. You know what I’m talking about, right? Oh, the days when life was easy.

We’re all grown up now – or at least, like me, pretending to be – and while we may not be handing out Power Ranger cards to our classmates, we can still send them out to friends and family. This is my third year sending them out (I send them to some friends, family members and the parents of my closest friends, as well) and I just dropped mine in the mail on Monday. I think it’s a great way to show people that you care and that you’re thinking about them. We’re early enough in the season that even if it takes your card a few days to get there, it can be enjoyed or displayed for a few weeks. The best part? We’ve graduated from Lisa Frank, Barbie and the aforementioned Power Rangers. In my low budget graphic above are a few of my favorites this year.

From left to right:

  1. Tuxedo Gal – Mae B Online, $20.00 (reg $25)
  2. Gold Foil Peace Love Joy – Paper Source, $14.21 (reg $18.95)
  3. Here Comes Santa – Veronica Marche, $13.50
  4. Snowman Merry Christmas – Papyrus, $12.95

Only problem now is that you’re going to need stamps…

Let me know if you send cards out during the holiday season and what some of your favorites are this year.

25 Days of Christmas: Giving Tuesday

This year, I am challenging myself to 25 days of posts this month, beginning today and ending on Christmas. Guess what I’m calling it? The 25 Days of Christmas! (Shocker, I’m sure. Although, I’m secretly calling it Christmas: As I Cee It.) I’m doing this partly to get me back into blogging, and partly to serve as a distraction (which I may or may not go into detail about at the end). I admit, I’m quite nervous since I can never stick to blogging. With that said, I am planning ahead and hoping for the best.

I’m very excited to start this month off with a post about giving back. This season is often about getting, winning, and buying, but it’s good to remember that giving is pretty amazing. I’ve found that the older I get, the more giving of my resources – both time and financial – mean more than getting gifts. (Though, let’s be clear, I do still enjoy presents!) Those who know me, know that I am a big fan of the Ronald McDonald House. I did not have a personal connection to this particular charity, but I found it when I was searching for somewhere to volunteer – and I’m incredibly grateful that I did. Volunteering, fundraising and attending events at the House have been some of the most fantastic and emotional times of the last couple years. I fell in love with the families and the staff, and I’m hoping to get more involved next year. I encourage you to learn more about the Ronald McDonald House and, if you’re interested, see if there’s a house near you. I’m sure they could use your help and support.

Whatever charity you are close to or currently support is sure to be running a campaign today. I hope you take a moment to give back to start off the season.
